The Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) is Austria’s largest non-university research facility with over 1300 employees looking back on a history of over 170 years. One of the youngest institutes is the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities (ACDH-OeAW) which was founded to foster the change towards digital paradigms in the Humanities. eLexicography is one of the five research groups at ACDH-OEAW.

Major responsibilities:

  • responsibility for implementing a citizen science component

  • with cultural and linguistic diversity background
    in a Digital Humanities framework

  • contribution to other work packages of the exploreAT! project
    (visualisation, cultural lexicography, semantic technologies)

  • community building within Austria
    (co-organising workshops etc.)

  • social media contributions

  • international dissemination & documentation of results

  • contribution to international cooperations and projects

  • representation in national and international (related) bodies

  • furthering participatory processes

  • contribution to experimental approaches

 

Basic qualifications:

demonstrated ability to generate new ideas and to innovate, experience/curiosity to work on cultural diversity, experience with and/or knowledge about participatory approaches and citizen science, excellent interpersonal skills, solidarity with open innovation (in science), academic orientation, teamwork in virtual intercultural and multilingual environments as well as strong ability to work independently, German speaking (level C)

 

Assets:

knowledge about working with museums / cultural / anthropological studies and/or collaboration practice with cultural heritage institutions; knowledge about and experience with inclusive and responsible research and/or do it yourself science, combined educational background from different fields or documented research experience, familiarity with social media; knowledge, familiarity or openness toward emerging technologies and research infrastructures, track record and successful grant applications, administrative and organisational skills, fluent English, multicultural background, experience from abroad.

 

Reports to:

Research Group Coordinator, Project Manager

 

The employment may start from October, 1st 2017 and run initially until December, 31st 2018. The contract can be extended. In accordance with the collective agreement for employees of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the initial monthly gross salary is € 1357,80 (paid out 14 times per year, overpay possible). Application deadline is June, 30th, midnight CET.
